May 15, 2001 Graybar (www.graybar.com) continued the rollout of its logistics network by opening a 144,000-square-foot distribution center in Puyallup, WA. It is the 10th facility in a planned 16-facility network that the company says will allow it to provide 90% of the United States' geography with next-day order delivery. The Puyallup facility serves as a replenishment and shipping facility for Graybar branches. Existing Graybar branches in the area will continue to fulfill sales, customer-service, counter, and will-call functions. The Puyallup facility employs 41 people.
The nine other functioning facilities in the logistics network are located in Dallas; Atlanta; Chicago; Fresno, CA; Cranbury, NJ; Stafford, TX; Taunton, MA; Youngstown, OH; and Rogers, MN. Graybar plans to open regional zone warehouses in Charlotte, NC; Springfield, MO; and Cincinnati, OH this year and in Tampa, FL; Phoenix, AZ; and Richmond, VA next year.
