May 18, 2001 CCA of Bromley, U.K. has installed a substantial Category 5E network from The Siemon Company (www.siemon.com) for Royal Sun Alliance Investment Management (RSAIM). CCA is a certified Siemon installer. The installation took place at one of RSAIM's new offices—the Broadgate West high-rise development, close to London's Liverpool Street Station.

The building's 28,000 square-foot fourth floor comprised 2,500 Category 5E outlets, as well as patch panels and patch cords, all from Siemon. Four outlets per workspace are fitted in modules beneath each desk. The new network provides voice and data connectivity to the Royal Sun Alliance network through both local- and wide-area networks, including links to the Royal Sun Alliance headquarters in Horsham, Sussex.

"This was a 14-week critical-timing project for us, " said CCA's director Gary Winham. He says the project culminated "in a trouble-free going-live changeover in a single weekend, ensuring zero downtime for the dealers. The very nature of this application demands a totally reliable network."

The cabling network included connections into the new communications room, which comprised 12 floor cabinets, Cisco Catalyst 6509 switches, Ericsson Consono voice switching, and Racal voice recording.
