AMP Netconnect to Host Online Seminar

May 17, 2001 The AMP Netconnect unit of Tyco Electronics will host a Web-based seminar series beginning later this month. The first seminar in the series is entitled "Will Your Cabling System Meet Today's Standards?" and will be offered four times.

Herb Congdon, director of AMP Netconnect global systems marketing, will host the seminar. Congdon is chair of the TIA TR-42.8 Committee on Optical Fiber Cabling Systems; Vice Chair of the TIA TR-42.1 Committee on Commercial Building Telecommunications Cabling; a member of the U.S. Advisory Group on International Cabling Standards; and a member of the IEEE's 10 Gigabit Ethernet Task Group. The seminar is scheduled to cover the recently released second revision to the TIA/EIA-568 standard, updates from other TIA TR-42 subcommittees, the status of Category 6 standards efforts, 850-nm laser-optimized multimode fiber, and 10 Gigabit Ethernet.

The seminar will be held on Wednesday, May 30 at 12 noon; Thursday, May 31 at 1:00 p.m.; Tuesday, June 5 at 2:00 p.m.; and Wednesday, June 6 at 3:00 p.m. All times are Eastern; each seminar will last an hour. Each seminar also will include an audio presentation that attendees can access via a toll-free telephone number. Tony Beam, RCDD and Jerry Solomon, RCDD will answer online questions. An audio question-and-answer session also will follow each session.
