March 14, 2008 -- Adding to its line of rodder systems, ARNCO has introduced its Pipe Eel, a heavy-duty cable pulling system aimed at outside plant applications that is billed as compact and lightweight for easy handling and storage.
The Pipe Eel uses high-strength Polykat fiberglass rod in 3/8 inches and 7/16 inches, and is available in lengths up to 500 feet in a 30-inch cage and 1,650 feet in a 40-inch cage, respectively. The Polykat fiberglass rod provides high push force stability and flexibility, and has a smooth polypropylene coating for fast, easy placement with less friction.
In the event of a break, the rod can be repaired simply and quickly by the user with the supplied rod ends or splices, and dowel pins. An optional length counter is available for easy measuring. Constructed of galvanized steel tube, the Pipe Eel cage has a torsion-free design, making it suitable for use on construction sites and assuring long life in the toughest of conditions, says the company. The cage has special bearings, allowing it to be easily moved by one person.
"The ARNCO Pipe Eel is easy to use and handle, allowing one person to push cabling into conduit by themselves, since it is lighter in weight than other products," comments Scott Wells, sales manager of DataComm products at ARNCO.
