January 21, 2008 -- At last week's Winter BICSI Conference 2008 in Orlando, FL, JDSU displayed new products from its portfolio of "task-ready tools" for network and enterprise testing, including the company's LanScaperPRO network tester and TestifierPRO cable tester, as well as fiber-optic test kits featuring products from Westover Scientific, acquired by JDSU on Jan. 7.
According to the company, the LanScaperPRO combines the functions of a high-end cable tester and length measurement device with the capability to identify, monitor, and correct LAN issues associated with physical layer and link conditions in the network. The TestifierPRO detects wiring problems such as no connection, shorts, high-resistance faults, and split pair conditions by performing detailed analysis for cable test and pre-test. It is also able to determine cable length in feet or meters using a patented cable capacitance method and performs tone generation, among other features.
The all-in-one fiber-optic test kits feature newly acquired Westover Scientific microscopes coupled with JDSU handhelds, including the new range of PocketClass optical power meters and light sources. Unlike competitive offerings, says JDSU, technicians now have cleaning, inspecting, and testing tools in one kit. Fiber testers highlighted at BICSI, in addition to the PocketClass and Westover products, include the SmartClass and the T-BERD 6000 OTDR.
Assaji Aluwihare, general manager of network and enterprise test for JDSU, also hosted a one-hour speaking session, "Troubleshooting the Premises," as part of JDSU's participation in BICSI's Winter Conference.
