April 23, 2008 -- Video surveillance systems provider Vicon Industries Inc. recently introduced its ViconNet VN-2500 viewer software. The viewer application provides the ability to view up to 64 cameras using a single PC workstation as part of a ViconNet video surveillance network.
The application also supports the ability to connect more than one monitor to the PC (4 maximum). Each monitor connected through the VN-2500 can display 1, 4, 9, 16, 36 or 64 camera feeds, with the entire application limited to a total of 64 cameras across all monitors. The application is available both in a software-only version as well as pre-loaded on a PC.
The VN-2500 is purely a viewing application, notes Vicon; the company says the software is especially efficient when combined with the more feature-rich ViconNet Virtual Matrix Controller. Together, the applications can be used to create large, multi-monitor display areas, with live viewing on the monitors connected to the VN-2500, and complete alarm capability and camera call-ups on the monitors connected through the Virtual Matrix.

Vicon issues personnel change announcements
Separately, Vicon announced the appointment of Marcus Stair as the company's new territory manager for Northern California and parts of Nevada. With extensive experience in the security systems industry, including video surveillance, IP cameras, video and facility management, and video analytics, Stair has held an variety of field engineer and information technology manager positions in addition to being the owner and founder of two integrator and consulting companies. During this time, he gained experience displaying and demonstrating IP cameras and video management systems, providing technical support, and engineering and designing WAN and LANs. Stiar also has a strong background in video analytics, including an understanding of best practices.
"With video analytics becoming more prominent in video system solutions, Marcus will be a huge asset to the outside sales force," comments Bret McGowan, bice president of sales and marketing for Vicon. "With his previous experience, we feel that he will aid in building a solid customer base on the west coast. "
Vicon also announced the appointment of Randy Schulman as the company's territory manager for the state of Florida, excluding Pensacola. With a BS in chemical engineering and over 10 years of industry experience, Schulman previously held a series of positions at Software House, a division of Tyco International. He began his career in technical support, migrated to training and professional services, and finally worked in the company's applications engineering group in a national account applications and sales capacity.
