August 2, 2006 -- Power over Ethernet (PoE) systems provider PowerDsine announced the official opening of its office in Mumbai, India.

Power over Ethernet (PoE) systems provider PowerDsine has announced the official opening of its office in Mumbai, India.

The company says the office allows it to serve its existing and potential customers in India, while providing them with direct access to its PoE products, as well as its technical and marketing staff, along with localized support.

Mr. Vikas Pinjarkar, appointed as the company's country manager for India, will head the new office.

"We view India as a market with great potential, given the growing technology needs of
corporations throughout the country, particularly in the three major tech centers of Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bangalore," comments Pinjarkar. "I am very excited to be a part of the PowerDsine team, which is committed to the further adoption of PoE technology."

"Our expansion into India is a further effort to penetrate one of the largest markets in Asia," adds Igal Rotem, CEO of PowerDsine. "We believe that India has great business potential which can be seen in the expansion of government and institutional infrastructure, and we believe that this new office will greatly benefit Indian customers who will be deploying technologies such as Voice over IP and Wireless LAN systems."

The company says it is marketing both its PoE integrated chipsets and midspan products via distributors, resellers, and direct sales in India.
