Jan. 12, 2006 - Products will include wideband and standard analog PIN photodiodes for CATV/Broadband transmission systems.

Furukawa America Inc. announced today the expansion of its communications products to include wideband and standard analog PIN photodiodes for CATV/Broadband transmission systems.

Manufactured by Okano in Yamato, Japan, Okano uses a YAG welding process to produce photodiodes that offer higher reliability under diverse environmental conditions. These receptacle and pigtail PIN photodiode modules are Telcordia GR-468-CORE qualified; provide low inter-modulation distortions and wider frequency response.

Okano makes CATV communications products in Japan and supplies CATV products for the Fiber-To-The-Home nationwide project now underway in the country.

Furukawa America is a supplier to CATV, FTTH, data and telecommunications industries throughout North and South America. The company's expansion to include Okano photodiodes is designed to increase its presence in the CATV, wireless, and wideband analog transmission system markets.

Furukawa America Inc. supplies a range of FITEL optical fiber products to multiple communications industries in the Americas; including fusion splicers, 980nm and 1480nm pump lasers, signal lasers and other active and passive optical components and connectors.
