December 7, 2006 -- Minicom Advanced Systems Ltd. (www.minicom.com), a provider of KVM switches and server management platforms, announced that its DX and Phantom systems have been installed by ECI-EDS, a telecommunications equipment manufacturer based in Israel.

ECI-EDS says it installed the Minicom systems in an effort to simplify the process of accessing and controlling diversely located servers. The manufacturer operates hundreds of servers spread across a number of sites.

Following the installation, ECI-EDS says it can now employ up to eight users to control the servers via a secure out-of-band connection over Cat5 cable. Additionally, the manufacturer says its global staff can now remotely access the BIOS of mission-critical computers from their workstations, wherever they might be located.

"There is no longer any need to physically run to the server room for every single problem," remarks Yaron Pinto, IT manager for ECI-EDS. "Thanks to the new remote access and control capability our server room is no longer a burden to manage but is more organized and easy to use."

"Minicom's DX system provides powerful data center management based on KVM technology giving out-of-band BIOS level access to servers," adds Hanan Geva, regional sales manager for Minicom Israel. "The system features serial control, access over IP, power management and user administration capability. ECI-EDS's choice of Minicom for such a large and important installation is clear proof of the confidence our partners show in the technological capability of our solutions."
