Berk-Tek, Ortronics roll out new NetClear brochure
October 30, 2006 -- Ortronics/Legrand and Berk-Tek have introduced a brochure highlighting the companies' NetClear structured cabling platforms for data centers and storage area networks (SANs).
The NetClear platforms are a set of end-to-end cabling systems comprised of high-performance fiber and copper cabling, along with connectivity and physical support products for transmission speeds up to 10 Gbit/sec, per IEEE 802.3an specifications. NetClear is a technology alliance between Berk-Tek (www.berktek.com) and Ortronics/Legrand (www.ortronics.com), designed to provide co-engineered solutions for applications including Cat 5e, Cat 6, and Augmented Cat 6, including 10-Gigabit copper and optical fiber channels.
The six-page brochure folds out to a poster-size illustration that show how the NetClear systems fit into a typical, standards-based data center configuration. According to the companies, the brochure is intended as a tool for data center designers and managers who recognize that designing data centers according to the TIA-942 guidelines will maximize cabling system lifespan, ensure compatibility with current and future technologies, and improve return on investment.
The brochure provides a brief tutorial on the TIA-942 standard and illustrates how the NetClear solution set provides guaranteed reliability, performance, flexibility and scalability - four key values that must be considered when designing mission-critical data centers, contend the companies.
