Four Seasons Hotel Mexico wires up for 10-Gig
The Four Seasons Hotel Mexico, the only AAA Five Diamond Hotel in Mexico City, has upgraded its network infrastructure to support 10-Gigabit Ethernet connectivity for hotel guests. That announcement was made by ADC (www.adc.com), supplier of the CopperTen structured cabling system used in the Four Seasons Hotel Mexico.
"When investing in a network infrastructure, we considered the benefits of copper versus fiber cabling and found that UTP cable like ADC's CopperTen is easier to install and more economical than shielded or fiber-optic based networks," said Felix Murillo, the hotel's manager. "The scalability of the ADC CopperTen solution makes it the optimal choice for our hotel, enabling us to leverage our investment in the future as we expand our network requirements. We also wanted to ensure that the cabling solution we chose was standards-compliant for Category 6 cabling systems and backward compatible, which CopperTen is."
From WiFi to in-room Ethernet Internet access, the Four Seasons Hotel Mexico keeps travelers connected in what is now considered the most "wired" hotel in Mexico City. All 240 guest rooms and 40 suites include dual-line telephones with fax/modem ports, high-speed Internet access, and WiFi Internet access via a complete end-to-end CopperTen system, including cable, connectors, patch cords, and patch panels.
The hotel's new high-speed Internet connection allows guests to send and receive e-mail at high speed; accelerate data transfer, whether they are uploads or downloads; connect with their companies' Intranets or Extranets; and access all the resources of the Web.
"Because cabling infrastructure is a long-term investment, it must be designed for future applications to keep up with advances in technology," said Pat O'Brien, president of the global connectivity business unit at ADC. "ADC's CopperTen cabling solution offers significant savings for businesses like the Four Seasons Hotel Mexico that are concerned with futureproofing their network infrastructure and providing the benefits of high-performance network functionality to its customers."
