Sunrise Telecom intros inside wiring tester for IPTV services
May 17, 2006 -- The SSMTT-41 module verifies that inside wiring is capable of supporting IPTV signals by analyzing the HPNA signals on in-house coax or twisted-pair wiring.
Adding to its handheld SunSet Modular Test Toolkit (MTT) platform, Sunrise Telecom has introduced the SSMTT-41 module, a multi-function test tool for conducting inside wiring tests and VDSL line verification for IPTV service deployments in integrated, "triple play to the home" systems. The SSMTT-41 integrates a VDSL modem, HPNA analyzer, RF signal level meter, spectrum analyzer, and wiring test features into a single unit.
The module verifies that inside wiring is capable of supporting IPTV signals by analyzing the HPNA signals on in-house coax or twisted-pair wiring. The unit verifies cable continuity, detects broken diplexers, provides cable identification, and estimates the cable length. Additionally, the SSMTT-41 analyzes RF video signals and identifies interference via the module's integrated RF signal level meter and spectrum analyzer functions.
"Triple play deployments create unique and demanding installation and maintenance scenarios," observes Steve Kim, product marketing manager at Sunrise Telecom. "The SSMTT-41 integrates all of the tests required to turn up a VDSL-based IPTV customer, both inside and outside the home, in a single tool. This allows our customers to speed deployment of service, simplify maintenance, and ensure end-user satisfaction."
