Desktop printer for labels, signs

Brady claims its BBP31 makes label- and sign-creation a two-step process.

The BBP31 sign and label printer from Brady is an industrial 4-inch monochrome printer that the manufacturer says offers simple label design. Brady says the printer's intuitive display, auto calibration and two-step label-creation process make it as user-friendly as one of these devices gets.

"There's no need to pick a label size, adjust your fonts or calibrate the printer," according to senior product marketing manager Matt Luger. "That's all done for you. The printer automatically knows what supplies you're using, so all you need to do is type your text and hit print." He says the printer includes a range of editing and design capabilities, including drag-and-drop editing, more than 200 symbols, and importing options.

The BBP31 can operate either as a standalone unit or connected to a PC. Its library of pre-made labels and multiple design wizards allow users to quickly create common label types, Brady says. The printer offers 13 different material types including indoor/outoor vinyl, low-halide polyester, photoluminescent tape, tag stock, retro-reflective tape, repositionable vinyl and magnetic supply. Preprinted labels with sign headers are also available, which Brady says enables users to create multi-colored labels needed for ANSI signs, OSHA signs and right-to-know chemical labels.

It also supports the production of raised-profile labels, which Brady says can be used as a substitute for engraved plates.
