Telcordia approves Superior Essex all-dry ribbon fiber cable

August 27, 2007 -- Superior Essex announced that its Dri-Lite line of all-dry, ribbon fiber cables has been qualified by Telcordia Technologies to meet the fiber-optic cable requirements of industry standard GR-20.

August 27, 2007 -- Superior Essex Inc. announced that its Dri-Lite line of all-dry, ribbon fiber cables has been qualified by Telcordia Technologies to meet the fiber-optic cable requirements of industry standard GR-20. Telcordia, an independent testing and consulting company for the communications industry, has previously qualified Superior Essex's line of gel-filled fiber cable products.

According to a press release, the Dri-Lite cable products have also been tested to comply with Rural Development Utilities Program (RDUP) specification 1753F-601 (PE- 90) for fiber-optic cables.

Superior Essex says the Dri-Lite product line makes use of proprietary technology to achieve its water-blocking characteristic without the use of gel filling compounds. The company notes that all-dry designs for fiber cable are preferred by some customers due to their elimination of water-blocking gels, which require clean-up and can add time to the cable installation process.

Superior Essex currently offers the Dri-Lite cables in armored and all- dielectric designs for fiber counts up to 216.
