November 16, 2007 -- The adapters integrate the ConnectX EN 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter controller and the Ternaetics TeraPHY TN1010 transceiver, both supporting the IEEE 802.3an standard.

November 16, 2007 -- Mellanox Technologies, Ltd., a supplier of semiconductor-based server and storage interconnect products, announced the availability of a dual-port, low-profile PCI Express adapter card supporting 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10-GbE) connectivity to industry-standard Unshielded Twisted Pair (UTP) cabling supporting the 10GBase-T standard.

Also available in PCI Express x 8 Gen2 and single port versions, the adapters integrate the Mellanox ConnectX EN 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter controller and the Teranetics TeraPHY TN1010 transceiver, both supporting the IEEE 802.3an standard.

"We are pleased to work with Mellanox on the 10GBase-T adapters as Mellanox is proven to take high-performance interconnect technology to volume production and has a strong OEM presence," says Matt Rhodes, CEO of Teranetics. "Their single-chip ConnectX controller coupled with our low power PHY enables a compelling dual-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter solution for virtualization and I/O consolidation data center applications."

Three ConnectX EN-based 10GBase-T adapters are available: the MNTH18-XTC, Single Port UTP, PCI Express x8; the MNTH28-XTC, Dual Port UTP, PCI Express x8; and the MNTH29-XTC, Dual Port UTP, PCI Express x8 Gen2.

The adapters support major operating systems and virtualization packages including Microsoft Windows, Linux, VMware and Xen. With multiple 10-GbE end user deployments and industry-wide interoperability confirmed at the UNH IOL Summit, and leading performance and features, Mellanox contends that it is well positioned to extend its position in InfiniBand to the 10 Gigabit Ethernet market.

"Mellanox provides the complete family of 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapter cards that can connect to all cabling solutions available including the familiar copper UTP cable, CX4, as well as standard data center fiber technologies such as SR, LR and LRM," comments Eyal Waldman, president, chairman and CEO of Mellanox Technologies. "Our adapters provide data centers the flexibility to take advantage of ConnectX EN's [high] performance, virtualization offload capabilities, and emerging convergence technologies such as Fibre Channel-Over-Ethernet and Data Center Ethernet regardless of the preferred cabling solution."
