November 2, 2007 -- US Conec Ltd. has introduced its MTP Shuttered Adapter. The panel mounted adapter, used to mate MTP connectors, is designed to offer superior dust protection.

The adapter has a spring loaded shutter door that the company says is easy to operate and provides protection from airborne particulates, reducing the time required for installation, testing, and troubleshooting. An O-ring seal design keeps out signal-degrading debris from the optics under the most extreme conditions, the company adds.

According to the company, the adapters were placed in a sealed chamber and subjected to ½ cup (0.12 liter) of ISO Arizona Road Dust that circulated for 10 minutes while blown by a fan per the requirements of GR-326, with no contamination permeating the O-ring seal. The adapter design also passed typical tests for thermal aging, vibration, impact, and durability.
