November 1, 2007 -- JDSU has released a 300-page guide addressing best test and measurement practices for delivering triple-play services and deploying FTTx networks. The guide, titled "Triple-Play Service Deployment -- A Comprehensive Guide to Test, Measurement and Service Assurance," has been released worldwide and is available immediately.

"JDSU 'wrote the book' on test solutions to help our customers remove complexity and increase productivity when deploying advanced communications services and networks," comments Dave Holly, senior vice president and general manager of JDSU's Field Services test business. "We base this guidance on experience JDSU has gained through partnership in wide-scale triple-play service deployment with the world's leading service providers."

According to the company, as an authoritative resource with in-depth guidance on testing FTTX networks and ensuring reliable triple-play service delivery, the guide provides installers, technicians, engineers and project managers with a comprehensive look at the latest test processes and technologies. It also offers practical guidance to ensure high-performance networks and service quality. Each chapter is authored individually by members of the company's Communications Test and Measurement product engineering team.

The company says that "every aspect of testing triple-play networks, from the head end through the home" is explained and illustrated in the guide. Highlights include: an introduction by industry analyst Michael Howard of Infonetics Research; insight into on-going network complexities, including high demand for additional bandwidth and new quality challenges in the triple-play environment; a tutorial presentation of Metro Ethernet as the baseline technology for converged services delivery; an analysis of copper and fiber delivery infrastructures and their unique test and troubleshooting considerations; and service delivery and assurance considerations that surround xDSL and each of the triple-play services, i.e. voice, video, and data

"Service providers know they must adopt effective test and measurement practices to efficiently deploy advanced voice, data and video services, and transition to IP networks," comments Michael Howard, co-founder and principal analyst at Infonetics Research. "As a communications test and measurement leader, JDSU offers a depth of knowledge on the challenges and complexities faced by service providers in triple-play rollouts worldwide. This is an excellent resource for service providers involved in or planning these rollouts."

The guide is the latest in a series by the company that also includes "The Reference Guide to Fiber Optic Testing," which is already in its second printing, with more than 10,000 copies distributed since March 2007. To request or download a copy of the new guide, click here.
