September 18, 2007 -- Opax, a video analytics developer based in Norway, has signed a partner agreement with Milestone Systems, a provider of open platform IP video surveillance management software. Under the agreement, Opax will offer its software under Milestone Solution Partner program, to take advantage of the integration opportunities available with the open platform Milestone software.

With research and development conducted since 1974 and originally created for the Norwegian Defense Research establishment, the Opax video analytics software features Video Content Analysis (VCA) detection technology, comprising a system for intrusion detection and perimeter surveillance under demanding outdoor conditions. According to the company, the system runs on standard components, has a modern architecture, and is scalable from one to an unlimited number of cameras.

"Our solutions have been well received by the oil and gas industry, as well as airports, harbors, police and other high-end customers," says Paul Saetre, VP of sales and marketing for Opax. "The Milestone agreement makes it possible for us to deliver complete surveillance systems to our partners."

Via the Milestone SDK [software development kit], the companies expect to jointly provide new offerings that combine IP video surveillance management with security systems for intrusion detection, face and license plate recognition, access control, and business systems such as point-of-sale and automatic teller machines.

"Being an innovative company specialized in the exciting industry of video analytics, Opax represents a very important future partner for Milestone," comments Henrik Friborg Jacobsen, VP of strategic alliance partners and co-founder of Milestone Systems. "It is the Milestone strategy to build alliances with industry leaders, and the partnership with Opax is an excellent example of the ability to provide customers with best-of-breed surveillance solutions."
