October 25, 2007 -- Electronics components distributor Digi-Key and Z-Wave developer Zensys have announced the signing of a global distribution agreement. The distributor is one of the newest members of the Z-Wave Alliance, a consortium of 170 companies dedicated to establishing Z-Wave technology as the standard in wireless control and automation.

"This deal is a direct result of the strong demand for Z-Wave among manufacturers around the globe," says Tony Shakib, CEO of Zensys. "We're thrilled to be aligning with a leading global distributor such as Digi-Key to ensure we can meet the increased demand for Z-Wave-enabled products."

Z-Wave technology enables one-touch wireless control of a wide variety of residential and light commercial applications such as lighting and appliance control, remote home monitoring, automated meter reading, entertainment, thermostat and ventilation control, access and security, and residential gateway connectivity.

The Zensys Z-Wave line includes ASICs, development kits and engineering services required by OEMs to successfully develop and market reliable, low-cost products for the "intelligent home," as powered by the technology, according to the company.

"This new partnership with Zensys is in perfect keeping with Digi-Key's commitment to provide our customers with the latest and most innovative products," comments Digi-Key's president Mark Larson. "Design engineers looking to create reliable and low-cost products for the 'intelligent home' will undoubtedly find Zensys' Z-Wave modules and development kits to be of consequential interest."

Zensys products are now available for purchase through Digi-Key's print and online catalogs.
