May 9, 2007 -- Berkeley Varitronics Systems, Inc. (BVS), a provider of handheld wireless test tools, has released its Yellowjacket 802.11b/a/g Wi-Fi Analyzer & Spectrum Analyzer.
According to the company, the tool is a test receiver system that demodulates, sweeps and analyzes all popular 802.11 Wi-Fi network packets including 802.11b (2.4 GHz), 802.11g (2.4 GHz) and 802.11a (5 GHz). The Yellowjacket B/A/G is also a powerful spectrum analyzer (accurate to within +1 dB) that measures RF energy, allowing not only detailed interference analysis but the ability to see the "whole picture" of 2.4 and 5 GHz network WISPs or hotpsots.
When equipped with a BVS DF [direction finding] antenna, the Yellowjacket B/A/G tool locates and pinpoints rogue APs and STAs and also detects spurious interference from sources such as microwave ovens and cordless phones. Wi-Fi analysis features such as SNR (Signal-to-Noise), Multipath (Ec/Io), Delay Spread, Channel Frequency Response (CFR), SSID and RSSI allow users to perform quick sweeps or detailed surveys using only one tool, says the company. Further, the company's optional Swarm software bundle creates powerful overlays for mapping coverage analysis.
The Yellowjacket B/A/G and Swarm(TM) Wi-Fi analysis tools will be available in Q3 of 2007.
