ITW Linx launches SurgeGate power protection products

February 6, 2007 -- ITW Linx recently launched its SurgeGate line of power protection products, which the company says "go well beyond conventional surge suppressors." Used in conjunction with an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), the product is designed to keep systems up and running through storms and brownouts.

"SurgeGate protectors survive surges that kill surge suppressors," contends Richard Halliday, business unit manager at ITW Linx. "They shut off the power for extended surges and sags, and they reset when the danger is past. Surge suppressors burn out, they don't reset, and they allow sags to pass through to your equipment. These units save equipment and they save on service calls. No one has to run out and reset or replace them after a major surge. They reset themselves. This is a whole new product category for power protection."

The SurgeGate line includes a variety of options and add-on modules to protect communications lines, including telephone, T1, leased lines, LANs, and coax connections to cable, satellite and antenna lines. The company says the product provides "a complete circle of protection around all power and communication sources for telecommunication and IT needs."

ITW Linx launched the product line at last month's 2007 BICSI Winter Conference in Orlando, Florida.
