June 17, 2004
June 17, 2004 - Both will provide Broadband-over-Copper solutions.

Actelis Networks announced that it has joined the CalixCompatible Assurance Program as a long reach Broadband-over-Copper solutions provider.

Actelis and Calix have agreed to work together to help expand the availability of broadband services to both businesses and consumers.

The goal of the CalixCompatible Assurance program is for partners to work together to equip service providers with the necessary solutions to enable them to deliver broadband services to both businesses and consumers throughout the world. Participants in the CalixCompatible program provide a broad range of solution elements enabling the delivery of advanced voice, data, and video services.

"Actelis' Broadband-over-Copper solutions provide a key element to the mass deployment of broadband services to both businesses and consumers," says Rick Johnston, vice president of business development at Calix. "Actelis offers a high performance broadband solution over bonded copper pairs which enables service providers to deliver high-quality, high-bandwidth services utilizing the existing copper infrastructure. We are looking forward to working with Actelis to enable the proliferation of broadband services."

Available in point-to-point or point-to-multipoint configurations, Actelis' platforms allow service providers to deliver high-quality, high-bandwidth broadband services to customers or locations over the existing copper plant. Actelis' platforms can deliver a variety of services including Ethernet, TDM and ATM. They are also designed to comply with industry standards including with the emerging IEEE 802.3ah Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) standard, thereby allowing them to be quickly and seamlessly integrated into service provider networks. Additionally, MetaLIGHT platforms are powered with Actelis' patent-pending MetaLOOP technology, which includes features such as cross talk cancellation (CTC), cross-talk management (CTM) and cut-line protection, among others.

This technology allows Actelis' platforms to provide far better rate, reach and reliability than other Broadband-over-Copper solutions. With the ability to provide high-quality bandwidth to distances beyond 18,000 feet/5.5km, Actelis' platforms are ideal to support a wide range of broadband applications including transparent LAN services, LAN interconnection, voice and video over IP. They are also well suited to backhaul bandwidth to DSLAMs/NGDLCs, WiFi and cellular base stations.
