Telect, Inc., has agreed to acquire the assets of telecom network infrastructure manufacturer Hendry Telephone Products.
Telect will use the acquisition of Hendry, headquartered in Santa Barbara, CA, to expand its market position in secondary power distribution products, while adding network and equipment racks, cell site battery systems, as well as indoor and outside plant cabinets to its overall product offering.
"With this acquisition, Telect strengthens its secondary power portfolio while adding new outside plant capabilities for serving the FTTX and DSL telecom initiatives," says Telect President and CEO Wayne Williams. "This merging of product lines and intellectual properties brings together two well-established brands in telecom for a combined enterprise that represents 100 years of serving the industry."
For Telect, the acquisition expands the company's existing communications product portfolio, while augmenting its wireless and DSL market positions and further enhancing its position in the growing FTTX market.
"I am pleased to see the Hendry legacy merged with a company such as Telect, which shares so many similar values in serving our customers," says Jim Keenan, CEO of Hendry Telephone Products.
The terms of the agreement are not disclosed. Telect representatives believe the move will conservatively add 25% to top-line revenue in 2005. Telect intends to utilize Hendry's Plano, TX manufacturing facility for racks, cabinets, frames and system configuration and integration purposes.
Telect intends to close Hendry's Santa Barbara location. Some employees will be given the opportunity to relocate to Telect's Liberty Lake, WA headquarters or to
Hendry's Plano facility. Operations positions will move either to Plano, to Telect's manufacturing facility in Guadalajara, Mexico, or to Hendry's contract manufacturing plant in Juarez, Mexico.
Founded in 1926, Hendry provides the telecommunications industry with equipment racks, indoor and outdoor cabinets, power distribution panels and a full line of power systems and components.
Telect, based in Liberty Lake, WA, manufactures connectivity products, services and solutions for the telecommunications industry. The company makes a line of optical connectivity systems, copper connectivity products, access and transmission products, power distribution panels, battery and power systems, racks, frames, and cabinets.
