Principal Chemist

Scott MacLeod is an inaugural member of the Primary Designated Engineers and a Corporate Fellow at UL LLC working out of UL’s Melville NY USA office. His responsibilities include technical competency and engineering quality in the development, maintenance and application of certification requirements in the material and analytical chemistry disciplines.

Scott holds leadership roles in several standard development organizations including IEC, ASTM, ASHRAE and ISO. He is a technical expert on the IEC Project Team 63031 on the “Definition of Low Halogen Materials used in Electronic and Electrical Products”, Co-Convenor of IEC 111 Working Group #3 responsible for the IEC 62321 test method standard for the “Determination of certain substances in electrotechnical products” and the test method subcommittee Chair of ASTM International’s technical committee F40 on Declarable Substances in Materials.
