Mike Connaughton is the Market Segment Manager, Data Centers, at Berk-Tek, a Nexans company, a manufacturer of networking cables located in Fuquay-Varina, NC and New Holland, PA. Mike received his BSEET degree from Wentworth Institute of Technology (Boston, MA) in 1990 and has been involved in fiber optic cable engineering ever since. He has been a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) since 1997. He has received the Aegis Excellence Award from the U.S. Navy for his work on the Fiber Optic Cable Steering Committee and was a key member of the committee that developed the SMPTE 311M standard for a hybrid fiber optic camera cable. Additionally, he has participated in fiber related standardization meetings with TIA, ICEA, ANSI and IEEE.
