Metal-armored USB cables

New rugged cabling from L-com.

L-com has released two new USB 2.0 cable assembly lines with metal armor surrounding the cables. The new Type A male to Type A male and Type A male to Type B male cables boast a crush resistance of 1500 PSI (pounds per square inch).

The armored USB cables are suitable for rugged applications including military/aerospace, security, medical facility, and industrial environment applications. Recently, L-com announced that it also carries armored HDMI cables for similar applications.

The armored USB cables are expected to be stocked in seven different length options in L-com's Massachusetts-based distribution center for same-day shipment. Engineering drawings are available for free download on the company's website.

"We've dedicated a lot of our resources to finding niche solutions to common problems with USB cabling," comments Steve Smith, product manager at L-com. "Providing a crush-resistant option is one of our many USB products we stock or custom manufacture."
