January 13, 2009 -- Tridium, Inc., an independent business entity of Honeywell International Inc., has expanded its NiagaraAX Framework building integration platform with the addition of its Niagara Video application. The application is billed the next step in providing a comprehensive intelligent building system that integrates all the common building functions -- environmental control, intrusion detection, access control, lighting and energy management -- with video.

According to Tridium, Niagara Video seamlessly integrates today's building applications with devices such as digital video recorders, IP cameras, network video recorders, and video management solutions. Built on the company's Niagara Framework, Niagara Video can integrate with other security and video products to provide complete building automation, card access and video monitoring functions. The video application can also be used as a standalone system, providing a video window that identifies an incident and notifies the proper personnel who can manage the response.

Niagara Video works with both local and remote buildings. The company contends that the application can be combined with other Tridium NiagaraAX building applications to deliver a unified, intelligent facility-wide management system that is easy to use, easy to understand and easy to commission.

"With complete interoperability between video, access control, lighting, HVAC, energy management, and building automation systems, Niagara Video delivers true video integration built on a proven open framework infrastructure," comments Marc Petock, vice president, marketing and communications for Tridium. "The Niagara Video platform offers significant cost-to-deploy and time-to-deploy benefits. The flexibility and scalability of the Niagara Video solution also provides users with visibility into an entire facility and all systems via a single browser-based user interface."

Niagara Video will be available for general release beginning February 15, 2009.
