TIA TR-42.7 telecom copper cabling systems committee revising TIA-1183-B

Feb. 11, 2022
New call for interest project will create the ANSI/TIA-1183-B standard, for revision of ANSI/TIA-1183-A. Known errors will be corrected, nomenclature will be updated, and any general needed updates will be made.

On Feb. 4, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) TR-42.7 Engineering Committee on Telecommunications Copper Cabling Systems issued a call for interest for document TIA-1183-B, initially titled "Measurement Methods and Test Fixtures for Balun-less Measurements of Balanced Components and Systems."

Per a press release, TR-42.7 is developing guidelines in the area defined by the following scope:

"This project will create ANSI/TIA-1183-B, revision of ANSI/TIA-1183-A. Known errors will be corrected, nomenclature will be updated, and any general needed updates will be made.

The stakeholders may include, but are not limited to: Cable and connector manufacturers, end users, system developers, installers, consultants. Field tester manufacturers and users."

TIA is actively seeking participation in these projects from the user and general interest communities.

TIA is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). A major function of the TIA  is the writing and maintenance of voluntary industry standards and specifications. These activities are carried out by the volunteer members of TIA engineering committees.
