TSI joins Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance

September 18, 2001 TSI Telecommunication Services Inc. has joined the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (WECA).

September 18, 2001 TSI Telecommunication Services Inc. has joined the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance (WECA—www.weca.net).

The alliance is designed to certify interoperability of Wi-Fi products, and to promote Wi-Fi as the global wireless local area network standard across all market segments.

TSI, based in Tampa, Fla., is a provider of interoperability solutions to wireless operators, wireline carriers and content providers in North America, Latin and Central America, Asia-Pacific, and Europe. The company joined WECA in order to advance its vision for open and transparent clearinghouse solutions within and between licensed and unlicensed

"TSI is committed to promoting vendor-neutral, non-proprietary roaming and clearing solutions that support the widest possible range of equipment, architecture, service and billing options for both wireless ISPs and wireless carriers providing public and enterprise services," says Paul Wilcock, TSI's vice president of business development. "We are pleased to bring our knowledge and expertise to WECA."

Membership in WECA is open to all companies who support the Wi-Fi standard, including any member manufacturer that would like to submit its Wi-Fi-based product for interoperability testing. WECA now comprises more than 100 members from the world's leading companies.
