April 25, 2001 ADC Telecommunications (www.adc.com) announced that its Digivance Indoor Coverage Solution (ICS), an indoor wireless-communication system, gained approval by the Federal Communications Commission. "This approval assures that Digivance ICS is in complete compliance with all applicable FCC rules and regulations, and is fully approved for in-building wireless communications," ADC said in the announcement.

At the same time, ADC announced that it had successfully completed a field trial of the system in a 100-year-old multi-story structure. Digivance ICS is an all-digital distributed antenna system, designed to provide digital optical transport of radio-frequency signals within or between buildings.

According to Jeff Quiram, ADC's president of broadband infrastructure, in the field trial the Digivance system increased communication performance by a factor of 20.

Digivance was introduced in September 2000.
