ACTA Holds First Meeting

May 16, 2001
May 16, 2001 The Administrative Council for Terminal Attachments (ACTA) recently held its first meeting.

May 16, 2001 The Administrative Council for Terminal Attachments (ACTA) has held its first meeting and elected Dr. James Salinas of SBC Communications for a two-year term as chair. Sponsored by the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS), ACTA (www.part68.org) is a newly-formed industry council established to set and administer Part 68 certification requirements.

Formation of ACTA follows the decision of the Federal Communications Commission in December 2000 to privatize its Part 68 responsibilities. ACTA will be responsible for adopting and publishing technical criteria for terminal equipment, and for operating and maintaining a database of approved terminal equipment, among other duties.
