11. Standards

Nov. 30, 2011

Several new standards - each of them under development for a considerable period of time - were finalized and published in 2011. Meanwhile, standards-development efforts charge along for others. In the "finished" category, we have the TIA-607-B Generic Telecommunications Bonding and Grounding (Earthing) for Customer Premises, along with another B&G standard, NECA/BICSI 607-2011 Standard for Telecommunications Bonding and Grounding Planning and Installation Methods for Commercial Buildings. Among the much-anticipated standards under development within TIA is 942-A, the first revision of TIA's standard for data center telecommunications infrastructure. As is always the case, several other standards are in some stage of development within the TIA. In several cases, the technologies that those standards support show up later on in our list.
