How pair bonding and vectoring can take twisted-pair cable to new levels

June 19, 2015
Online seminar explains the ABCs of how these technologies can make twisted-pair cable a viable triple-play service infrastructure.

On Thursday, June 25, Cabling Installation & Maintenance will host a web seminar that explains the concepts of pair bonding and vectoring, and how those technologies can work to enable triple-play services over twisted-pair cable infrastructure. The seminar will be sponsored by Greenlee Communications, and Greenlee product manager Michelle Miller will deliver the one-hour presentation.

In describing the seminar’s content and its theme, Greenlee said, “As the demand for higher bandwidth for triple-play services (voice, data, video) continues to increase, the deployment of bonding continues to be an essential practice for today’s service providers, allowing them to increase the available capacity of their copper networks. Similarly through the deployment of vectoring, technicians are able to mitigate crosstalk, which increases the rate and reach allowing operators to extend service to more customers.

“Reacting to the immediate need for greater speed has become a key focus from a cost-efficiency perspective as bonding and vectoring enable faster time-to-market compared to running fiber all the way to the end customer,” Greenlee continued. “Attendees of this webcast will be educated on the key benefits of bonding and vectoring deployment as well as learn tips, techniques, and best practices for testing on these circuits.”

As host of the seminar, Cabling Installation & Maintenance has gotten an advanced view of the information to be presented. Miller will describe each of the following advantages that pair bonding offers.

  • Greater “dedicated” bandwidth
  • Faster time-to-market
  • Resilience
  • Quick installation and flexibility
  • Improved quality of service
  • Cost

Additionally, she will explain and describe each of the following characteristics of vectoring.

  • Faster speeds in a much shorter time to market
  • Significantly lower cost than fiber deployment to the home
  • The ability to deliver high upstream and downstream speeds as well as bandwidth consistency and predictability
  • Crosstalk mitigation

A significant amount of time during the one-hour seminar will be spent describing both the importance and the how-tos of testing twisted-pair cable infrastructure in bonding and vectoring applications.

After its live broadcast at 1pm EDT on June 25, the seminar will be available for on-demand viewing for six months. Individuals who attend the seminar in its entirety, live or on-demand, will be eligible to receive one continuing education credit toward BICSI professional credentials.

You can find more information on the seminar here and register for it here.
