Tester Checks Polarity of MPO Assemblies

The MPO Polarity Tester from Liverage checks for defects in an MPO cable assembly and identifies if the assembly has the A, B, or C polarity type. Liverage says the testing works for both singlemode and multimode cable, and for PC as well as APC connectors.

The tester “emits a visible 650-nm wavelength red laser light through the cables,” the company explains. “If there are breaks or defects in the fiber, it will refract the light, creating a bright glow around the faulty area.” It further describes the tester as “a 2-in-1 tool that combines our MPO tester and MPO Polarity Identifier.” It features a buzzer to audibly alert the operator of a problem. Liverage says the tester can be used during the manufacture of the assembly, as well as by telecom companies and for on-site assessment.

The tester can operate in continuous wavelength mode, flash mode, or scan mode. It enables visibility of up to 1 kilometer for both singlemode and multimode links.
