Modular Test Platform Certifies Copper and Fiber Cabling

Softing now offers WireXpert MP, its Cable Certifier testing platform built on the company’s proven technology. Softing describes WireXpert MP as “a versatile solution designed to meet the diverse certification needs of networking environments ranging from small home offices to medium-sized enterprises and large-scale data centers.” It adds the tool seamlessly scales to ensure the compliance of copper cabling up to Category 8, and Tier 1 fiber certification. The WireXpert MP platform is ETL Verified for accuracy.

WireXpert MP supports copper and fiber media, as well as application-specific testing, through interchangeable adapters, allowing test technicians to consolidate testing needs across cabling types without changing the base unit. It also features on onboard inspection camera, with auto capture, for fiber endface inspection. WireXpert MP is compatible with test routines from Softing’s WireXpert 4500 and 500 series testers, which allows continuity across platforms and minimizes retraining requirements.

The following 5 modules are available.

C6A: A full-featured entry level product capable of testing copper cabling up to Category 6A, as well as Single Pair Ethernet (SPE) cabling. “The C6A module comes with all modern test options like DCRU (DC Resistance Unbalance) and TCL (Transverse Conversion Loss), and is software-upgradeable to 3000 MHz,” Softing explains. “With its easy-to-use, intuitive user interface, this version is the perfect companion for installations in office and industrial environments.”

C8: A high-end cable certifier up to Category 8 and beyond for high-speed cabling and data center applications. “The C8 comes with all modern test options like 600 MHz SPE, DCRU, and TCL,” Softing says. “The flagship of the WireXpert MP series with a frequency range from 100 kHz to 3 GHz, and supports all common non-RJ45 Cat 8.2 connectivity. Fast test times enable users to complete jobs in minimum time.”

FM: A cost-effective fiber-only encircled flux (EF) compliant Tier 1 certifier for 850/1300-nm multimode fiber-optic cabling.

FS: A cost-effective fiber-only Tier 1 certifier for 1310/1550-nm singlemode fiber-optic cabling.

FQ: All-in-one fiber-only EF-compliant Tier 1 certifier for both multimode (850/1300-nm) and singlemode (1310/1550-nm) fiber-optic cabling.
