Researcher: Wireless LAN recovery was quick, bounce continues

Five-year forecast from Dell'Oro Group predicts total growth of more than 75 percent.
Market-research firm Dell'Oro Group recently released a five-year forecast report on wireless LANs in which it says enterprise wireless LAN market revenue will increase more than 75 percent between 2010 and 2015. The growth will vault the overall wireless LAN market past $7.5 billion, Dell'Oro says.
Senior analyst of wireless LAN research Loren Shalinsky said the market "rebounded quickly from the economic recession." Revenue levels in 2010 easily beat those of the two previous years, he added. "The growth in the number of WiFi-enabled devices and the desire for untethered access to data is driving the expansion ... IT departments continue to build out new WLAN infrastructure and upgrade previous installations to accommodate users' desires."
The five-year forecast from Dell'Oro looks at service-provider, enterprise and small-office/home-office markets for wireless LANs.
