ADC in-building cellular systems deployed by major automakers

MINNEAPOLIS -- ADC (NASDAQ: ADCT) announced that its InterReach Fusion distributed antenna system (DAS) has been deployed to deliver high-capacity 2G and 3G wireless services for some of the world’s largest auto manufacturers.
The company notes that many automakers are planning to go to all-wireless communications because their far-flung facilities require increasing employee mobility. ADC contends that that installing iits n-building DAS in more than 50 assembly plants, administrative offices, headquarters campuses, and other facilities in the United States and Canada helps to ensure strong and seamless voice and data communications for all workers as the auto industry continues its recovery.

ADC says it has deployed the DAS system to optimize wireless coverage and capacity in facilities ranging in size from 10,000 square feet to millions of square feet. Thanks to the active architecture of the InterReach Fusion system which places the amplifiers with the antennas in the service areas, remote units can be placed miles from the base station and still deliver the same strong signals as those located near the base station.
“With uniform signal strength at every antenna and the use of 75 Ohm CATV cabling and fiber optics to connect the system components, Fusion is easier and more cost-effective to deploy than most other systems and produces better results, which are particularly important for an industry now focused on higher productivity and profits,” added Spindler.
