Compact Device Conducts WiFi Site Surveys, Validation, Troubleshooting
Hamina recently introduced Hamina Clip, a WiFi site survey and diagnostics device that the company says “gives IT administrators and network engineers a simple way to troubleshoot, measure, and redesign WiFi networks.” When announcing the device, Hamina pointed out its affordability (suggested $1180), saying it “provides professional-grade WiFi validation and onsite troubleshooting without the cost or complexity of traditional WiFi tools.”
Using Hamina’s AI-powered software, Clip enables users to generate heatmap visualizations of WiFi coverage, interference, capacity, and connectivity. Additionally, it can identify root causes of WiFi issues, simulate the effect of smaller network changes and upgrades, and produce shareable reports. It works with or without building floorplans.
The low-profile device attaches to a belt or strap. It includes four antennas, dual WiFi radios, wireless pairing with an iOS phone or tablet, and more than 5 hours of battery life. It integrates with the Hamina Network Planner and Hamina Live. “Thanks to new, highly optimized WiFi scanning algorithms, Clip can be used in any WiFi environment, from offices, campuses, and hospitals to warehouses and factories,” the company pointed out.
Hamina’s founder and chief executive officer Jussi Kiviniemi commented, “Practical tools for resolving everyday WiFi problems have been missing from the market. Clip, paired with Hamina’s software, makes instant heatmapping, WiFi diagnostics, and remediating accessible for anyone from home installers to CWNE-level hardcore wireless architects.”
Clip works in conjunction with Hamina Onsite, the company’s subscription-based app. Recently updated, the app “instantly reveals WiFi bottlenecks such as signal, connectivity, and speed issues, and enables locating access points in seconds,” the company says. “Troubleshooting features also reduce WiFi troubleshooting time significantly and enable IT staff to fix more-complex WiFi problems.”
