Ethernet Alliance readies for TeraFabric Plugfest, converged data centers' interoperability test event

Oct. 18, 2012
The TeraFabric Plugfest event (Oct. 22-26) will attract top Ethernet technology developers, solutions providers, and equipment manufacturers.

The Ethernet Alliance announced that more than 20 of the foremost Ethernet technology developers, solutions providers, and equipment manufacturers are preparing to attend the consortium's upcoming TeraFabric Plugfest. The latest in the organization’s series of interoperability testing events, the TeraFabric Plugfest is scheduled for October 22-26, 2012 at the University of New Hampshire InterOperability Laboratory (UNH-IOL) in Durham, NH.

Billed as first-of-its-kind interoperability event, the TeraFabric Plugfest will bring together the complete range of Ethernet and related technologies, including Data Center Bridging, 10GBase-T, 40GE, and high-speed cabling. With the wide array of high-speed Ethernet devices and solutions accessible during the plugfest, the event will culminate with the construction of an integrated network capable of supporting a one-terabit data flow.

“In data centers today, it’s becoming more and more about the convergence of everything into a simple network -- that’s what it’s really coming down to," comments Henry He, Marketing Chair, Ethernet in the Data Center subcommittee, Ethernet Alliance.

Mr. He adds, "People really want to be able to put these disparate network elements together and know that they’ll not only function properly, but will help elevate operational performance and productivity. Events like the TeraFabric Plugfest are critical milestones along the path to realizing the next generation of truly converged data center networks.”
