Hurricane Electric expands its network to improve fault tolerance, load balancing and congestion management capabilities for the delivery of IPv4 and IPv6 access.

Hurricane Electric recently announced it has expanded its presence in Eastern Europe by connecting to six Internet exchanges in the region. Hurricane now connects to the Budapest Internet Exchange, Balkan Internet Exchange, Bulgarian Internet Exchange, InterLAN Exchange, NetIX and the Romanian Internet Exchange.

Hurricane Electric operates its own IPv4 and IPv6 network. it is connected to 70 major exchange points and exchanges traffic directly with more than 3,200 networks, it explains. It employs fiber-optic networks. The company, which also is a colo provider, explained this expansion will enable it “to improve fault tolerance, load balancing and congestion management infrastructure capabilities for the delivery of IPv4 and IPv6 access services. The new connections will reduce latency and router hops for Internet traffic. Additionally, the direct connectivity paths will increase the reach of Hurricane Electric’s infrastructure and services,” the company noted.

The company’s president Mike Leber added, “This expansion will give customers the ability to tape into Hurricane Electric’s rich global network and experience greater bandwidth and reduced latency. Customers throughout the globe continue to demand greater Internet options and Hurricane Electric is pleased to meet and exceed their expectations.”
