Raed Samamra spent eight years in engineering and product-management roles at Corning.

Raed Samamra has joined Berk-Tek, a Nexans company, as fiber-optic product manager. In this capacity he reports to Eric Lawrence, Berk-Tek’s vice president of research-and-development and advanced marketing. Samamra is responsible for managing the fiber-optic cable product line and, the company explained, “is the key interface between customers, internal sales teams, reps, manufacturing and engineering for Berk-Tek’s fiber-optic cable products manufactured in Fuquay-Varina, NC.”

He joins Berk-Tek with eight years’ experience at Corning—specifically with Corning Optical Communications, previously referred to as Corning Cable Systems. There he held roles including field engineer, enterprise networks systems engineer and, most recently, senior product line specialist for flame-retardant cable in the Europe/Middle-East/Africa region.

He worked out of Corning’s Berlin, Germany facility in that role, and will relocate to North Carolina to be based in Berk-Tek’s Fuquay Varina facility. Samamra holds a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering from North Carolina State University.
