Leviton intros modular audio/video connectivity system

Feb. 2, 2012
Leviton's Enhanced Multimedia Outlet System (MOS) supports video applications over distances up to 100 feet via three easily installed module types.

Leviton Network Solutions announced the release of its Enhanced Multimedia Outlet System (MOS) modular platform, an audio/video connectivity system that supports video applications over distances up to 100 feet and via three easily installed module types: VGA, RCA composite video and stereo audio, and RCA component video.

The company says the modules provide point-to-point connections over twisted pair cable, for the connection of everything from PC monitors to DVD players, with easy industry-standard 110-punchdown termination and the ability to cut cable lengths in the field. The new modules complement Leviton’s existing line of QuickPort and Multimedia Outlet System connectors and wallplates, which have front-load capability for simple changes and upgrades.

“This system has the lowest overall cost to install on the market today - including labor, cable, and connectors,” contends Grant Sullivan, marketing manager for Leviton Network Solutions. “Unlike factory terminated alternatives, the Leviton solution was designed to be installed using contractor labor and affordable Cat 5e UTP cabling. This cable is likely already on the job site as excess cable in remnant lengths, and is ideal for audio-video applications.”
