Sept. 29, 2017
APAC joins the North American and European efforts to drive forward initiatives to increase awareness and worldwide market adoption of fiber-based enterprise networks via Passive Optical LAN (POL) technology.

On September 7, the Association for Passive Optical LAN (APOLAN), a non-profit organization driving the adoption and education for Passive Optical Local Area Network (LAN) technology, announced the addition of its APAC committee, expanding its already strong global presence in supporting the education and adoption of Passive Optical LAN (POL) technology.

Working in concert with North American and European committees, the Association's new APAC committee will support the accelerating growth in the APAC region's fiber industry. In addition, the team will play an integral role in industry cooperation, as well as lend its expertise to the standards and regulations in support of the adoption of POL technology in their respective regions.

Member companies consist of manufacturers, distributers, integrators, and consulting companies. The organization's APAC Committee current membership includes: Huawei, 3M, Bowei Technology, Ectivise, IBM, TELEGE, VT Group and Yagtze Optical Fibre and Cable Joint Stock Limited Company (YOFC).

"With the continuous growth and increasing demand for POL around the world, the addition of the APAC committee to the APOLAN team helps to further establish POL's strong adoption and global presence as the local area networking technology of the future," said Leon Zhang, APOLAN APAC Committee Chairman and Vice-President of Access Network Product at Huawei. "This is yet another step in further establishing POL as the superior networking choice to support evolving trends such as IoT, wireless, cloud and smart offices."

"The APAC committee will extend the great work that is already being accomplished by APOLAN in both North America and Europe," said Dave Cunningham, APOLAN Board Chairman and Tellabs Marketing Director. "With membership from industry experts and important influencers in the space, we are able to make impressive strides in furthering the education and implementation of passive optical LAN."

APOLAN members receive access to the Association's existing resources and website, in addition to making their own content available to other members and the industry. For more information on members, or to apply for membership, visit http://www.apolanglobal.org/membership/member-list/.
