A Note About Our Webinars and BICSI Continuing Education Credits

Some recent webinars are not eligible for CECs, despite our hopes they would be.

To Our Valued Audience:

Thank you very much for being a member of the Cabling Installation & Maintenance audience. I personally appreciate the time you spend with the information products we offer. This message concerns our webcast seminars and specifically, the awarding of continuing education credits (CEC) for BICSI’s professional credentials.

In several of our recent webcast seminars, I have stated that we have applied to BICSI for a CEC, and that BICSI’s review was pending. I stated that if BICSI approved the seminar, we at Cabling Installation & Maintenance would issue you an attendance certificate that BICSI would recognize for a CEC. When I made those statements, I misunderstood and mischaracterized BICSI’s CEC approval process. BICSI does not award CECs retroactively, for events that already have taken place. I must inform you that unfortunately, we will not be able to provide any attendees of these recent webcast seminars with a BICSI-recognized CECs.

I owe you an apology, and I offer that apology to you now, for delivering incorrect information to you about our ability to offer BICSI CECs for our webinars. It was never my intent to mislead you about that ability, but misleading you was in fact what I did. I know your time is valuable. And while I believe our webinars’ value can stand alone on their technical merit, I also believe that in many cases, earning a CEC has been a consideration in your decision to spend an hour attending one of those seminars.  I do not take this situation lightly, and have only my sincere apology to offer you.

Moving forward, it is unlikely that the webcast seminars we offer in the immediate future will be eligible for CECs. If and when we offer a seminar that BICSI has approved, we will reference a BICSI CEC in our promotions (email and online) of the seminar. If we make no mention of a BICSI CEC, that will mean the seminar will not qualify for one, during its live broadcast or anytime thereafter.

I’ll reiterate that I personally respect the value of your time, and appreciate every opportunity you take to interact with us at Cabling Installation & Maintenance. I hope you’ll continue to review the webcast seminars we offer, and consider tuning in. All our seminars are available for on-demand viewing for six months after their live broadcast dates. If you have comments or questions about this recent turn of events related to BICSI Continuing Education Credits, please contact me via email at [email protected], or via phone at 603-891-9222.
