April 28, 2009 -- Private equity firm HWI Partners, LLC has acquired Custom Cable Industries, Inc. (Tampa, FL), a cable and wire business serving the telecommunications industry. The 30-year old Florida firm says the move marks its increased focus on growth, by positioning HWI founder Martin K. Hunt as CEO of Custom Cable.
Hunt, an experienced financial executive and Harvard Business School graduate, says that Custom Cable now seeks to capitalize on its experience as a longtime provider of network design expertise and cabling products to address emerging telecommunications trends, such as providing fiber-optic cabling systems to the residential fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) market. "As more large service providers such as AT&T, Verizon, Comcast, Time Warner, Windstream and others differentiate their business and consumer offerings through FTTH, Custom Cable is ready with a cost-effective range of off-the-shelf and customized products, partnerships and experience to help them grow," comments Hunt.
In addition to FTTH, Hunt touts the company's experience in "green" cabling design and zoned cabling architectures for enterprise data, video and voice communications within large central data centers and call centers. As a designer, manufacturer and installer of both fiber and copper-based telecommunications systems, Custom Cable contends that it has the size, resources, and longevity necessary to address potential concerns customers might have regarding the viability of smaller installation contractors amid the current economic downturn.
Custom Cable employs about 200 engineering, sales, administrative and support staff at its Tampa headquarters, as well as at offices in Orlando, FL, Atlanta, GA, and Anaheim, CA. The company's Florida clients include Walt Disney World, Publix Supermarkets and CHEP Equipment Pooling.
