Black Box recently introduced new fiber patch cables in 12 standard colors that are ideal for color-coding applications, departments, users, and other data center and desktop applications. IT professionals can select from a spectrum of colors ranging from white to violet. If users want to match a specific Pantone color, Black Box also provides custom color matching.

The new cables offer a variety of options, including:
• 2 jacket styles—PVC and plenum
• 3 core sizes—62.5-, 50-, and 8.5-micron
• 10 connector combinations
• 12 colors—from white to violet
• 13 lengths—from 1 to 30 meters

In essence, says the company, the cables offer custom options but with the convenience of standard part numbers.

The cables provide high performance at data rates up to 1 Gbps at 850 nm. They’re intended for high data aggregation in backbone, riser, and high-speed parallel interconnections. They also offer compatibility with a broad range of laser-based and legacy protocols. In addition, the cables' CPC coatings offer superior microbend and environmental performance.

A data sheet on the Black Box Web site details all cable options and standard part numbers.
