Leviton Expands Production of High-Fiber-Count Cable Assemblies

Leveraging factories in the UK and the US, Leviton offers more than 100 assembly configurations.

Leviton Network Solutions recently announced the availability of more than 100 configuration options for its high-fiber-count cable assemblies, made possible by increased production capacity out of its United Kingdom factory.

“Delivered through the Leviton SJX fiber trunk family, part of the STRATA and OPT-X Global Fiber Systems, the portfolio can now be manufactured in Leviton’s UK-based, carbon-neutral data center factory to provide the speed, scale, and assurance required by modern data centers,” the company said when announcing the expanded capacity.

“Our enhanced fiber production arrives at a critical time,” said Eddie McGinley, senior director of product management for Leviton. “Operators are under immense pressure to scale optical infrastructure quickly, with the added weight of navigating global supply challenges. This means they need partners they can trust and who will deliver against their commitments. By expanding manufacturing in our UK facility and strengthening multi-region production, we’re giving customers the speed and assurance they need to keep projects on track and meet aggressive build schedules.”

All new configurations options are available for immediate ordering through Leviton’s global sales channels and distribution partners.

The configurable assemblies feature the following characteristics and capabilities.

  • Loose-tube fiber constructions supporting current and future high-density architectures for ultra-high-density fiber counts
  • Support for Base-8, Base-12, and Base-16 configurations
  • High-density connectivity optimized for AI clusters, cloud pods, and colocation sites.

Leviton pointed out this expanded production is one of several investments the company has made in its UK facility; those investments also include “upgrades to cable, cassette, and assembly production” that have “increased output and strengthened supply reliability.”

Specifically, Leviton completed a significant expansion of its UK data center factory, now manufactures 100-plus OPT-X SJX cable types and trunks in both the UK and the US, and now produces OPT-X HDX fiber cassettes in the UK.

“With manufacturing in both the UK and the US, including dual-rated LSZH CPR B2ca/Riser constructions, Leviton gives customers greater options for sourcing, simpler project planning, and reliable access to critical components,” the company added.

These Tower Tech XR cooling towers use evaporative cooling to remove heat generated within the data center by IT equipment. Composite cooling towers are more compact and significantly lighter than metal towers. They arrive at a data center site pre-built.
