Hybrid Cable Supports Fault Managed Power and High-Speed Data

Sinclair Digital’s StrandWise cable, combining copper conductors and fiber-optic strands, is useful anywhere separate cabling would be impractical.

Sinclair Digital offers StrandWise Hybrid Power and Data Cable as part of its Agile-Core portfolio of distributed edge architecture technologies. StrandWise “efficiently combines Class 2 and Class 4 fault managed power [FMP] and high-speed data in a single solution, making it ideal for space-constrained environments like network infrastructures and industrial automation,” the company says on its website.

StrandWise “incorporates multiple pairs of copper conductors and fiber-optic strands, enabling high power delivery and fast data throughput from the outset,” Sinclair Digital adds. “This unique hybrid cable allows the user to provide dark fiber and dormant copper to futureproof a facility, preserving the value of a building’s 50-year infrastructure by accommodating expanding power and data needs over time.”

According to Sinclair Digital’s spec sheet for the product, StandWise includes a 16-AWG copper conductor for FMP delivery. It is available with 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, or 8 unshielded twisted copper pairs and 6 or 12 OS2 fibers. It is approved for use in plenum spaces and available with a white or yellow outer jacket.

Introduced in 2022, Sinclair Digital’s Agile-Core portfolio of digital building infrastructure products that the company explained “combines the best attributes of fault managed power and Power over Ethernet technologies,” further describing Agile-Core as “a modular, resilient, easy-to-connect, and lowest embodied carbon addressable LED lighting system.”

At the time of Agile-Core’s introduction, Sinclair Digital further explained, “With the combination of Digital Electricity and PoE, power and data can now be provided over PoE at significant distances for large-scale projects such as data centers, automated warehouses, lithium refining factories, large buildings, campuses and more.”

These Tower Tech XR cooling towers use evaporative cooling to remove heat generated within the data center by IT equipment. Composite cooling towers are more compact and significantly lighter than metal towers. They arrive at a data center site pre-built.
