The Cleerline Technology Group recently introduced high-density fiber trunks that use the company’s SSF bulk fiber. The trunks are made in the United States, available in strand counts up to 144, and as much as 50% slimmer than traditional bend-insensitive products. Cleerline’s trunks provide “superior strength and durability without the added weight and bulk of micro-armored or double-jacketed solutions,” the company said.

The SSF fibers feature a patented glass-encapsulated-by-polymer construction that Cleerlie explains “strengthens the optical strand while simultaneously protecting the center core.” By using this process and this optical fiber, bulk cable and factory-terminated assemblies “provide best-in-class durability while maintaining a slim footprint,” the company says.

“Our space-saving SSF fiber trunks are the perfect solution for data centers and other mission-critical infrastructures,” said Cleerline president Ryan Prentice. “SSF is highly durable and long-lasting, featuring a patented manufacturing process that delivers unmatched strength and flexibility as well as unparalleled signal performance.

“SSF outperforms traditional bend-insensitive products by delivering an industry-leading 2.2-mm bend radius 2000x better flex strength, and 1500x stronger impact rating than conventional bulk fiber. Cleerline SSF also offers superior thermal performance, resulting in an astonishing 50-plus-year life expectancy—a critical factor for long-term return on investment on any size installation,” Prentice concluded.

Cleerline also offers stock and custom patch cables with its SSF fiber. The patch cables feature factory-terminated LC, SC, ST, and MPO/MTP connectors.
