Vander Ploeg Elected Vice Chair of TIA Fiber Optic Technology Consortium
Tyler Vander Ploeg, an industry veteran of multiple decades and key account manager with MicroCare, recently was named vice chair of the Telecommunications Industry Association’s (TIA) Fiber Optic Technology Consortium (FOTC). The consortium’s mission is to educate the communications industry on optical fiber’s practical applications and technical advantages over other media options. It hosts educational webinars, authors white papers, delivers technical presentations, and offers standards guidance to promote both the understanding and the adoption of fiber-optic communications systems.
“I’m honored to serve as vice chair of the FOTC during such a pivotal time for fiber-optic communications,” Vander Ploeg said. “Education and collaboration are essential to helping the industry fully realize the value of optical fiber.”
In his near-25-year career in the fiber-optic industry, Vander Ploeg has worked in product management at VIAVI Solutions, a role in which he led the development of fiber-optic inspection technologies. For the past three years he has supported customers of MicroCare’s Sticklers brand fiber-optic cleaning products. He holds the Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) credential from BICSI and holds a degree in business administration from Seattle Pacific University.
